In the heart of Madhya Pradesh's Jhabua district, a devastating incident unfolded, leading to the tragic demise of a woman. This unfortunate event stemmed from a ritualistic practice conducted by a tantrik, involving the use of an iron chain. The victim, a 34-year-old woman named Manjita residing in Naganwat village, endured this harrowing ordeal due to her prolonged inability to conceive after 15 years of marriage. Seeking a remedy for her barrenness, her family resorted to seeking the intervention of a Tantrik.

Over the course of three consecutive days, the woman underwent severe physical assaults as part of a 'tantra kriya' purportedly aimed at resolving her infertility issues. Regrettably, these relentless beatings tragically led to Manjita's untimely death on a Wednesday.

Authorities swiftly intervened, initiating an investigation into this distressing incident. Manjita had been married to Prakash Damor for 15 years, yet the couple struggled to conceive, prompting her in-laws and parents to pursue unconventional assistance. The tantrik, situated nearby, persistently subjected her to physical abuse, claiming she was possessed by an evil spirit.

By the third day of this agonizing ritual, the woman lost consciousness. Despite immediate efforts to transport her to a hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.

Following a post-mortem examination conducted on Thursday, the body was released to the family. However, although the autopsy revealed apparent signs of physical abuse, the precise cause of death remained unclear, according to the examining doctors.

Jhabua SP Agam Jain affirmed the registration of a case and assured further actions would be determined based on the investigation's findings.

This heart-wrenching incident highlights the grim consequences of superstitious practices and the dire need for stricter regulations to prevent such tragic occurrences in the future. The community remains in shock as authorities strive to bring justice to Manjita and her grieving family in the wake of this appalling event.
