This case involves the former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, who was arrested by CBI in February this year. The BJP has pointed out that Kejriwal will soon join Sisodia in jail. However, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the BJP of conspiring to arrest Kejriwal in a fabricated excise policy case and has emphasized that their fight against corruption will not be affected.

During a press conference, Virendra Sachdeva, the President of Delhi's BJP, predicted that Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Satyendar Jain would eventually end up in the same Tihar jail barrack, as the BJP has consistently asserted that Kejriwal was the ringleader of the liquor scam that led to Sisodia's imprisonment.

The Delhi government led by Kejriwal canceled the 2021-22 Delhi Excise Policy after Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena suggested that the CBI investigate potential irregularities. Manish Sisodia was taken into custody in February of this year, while Satyendar Jain, a former minister in the Kejriwal administration, has been detained for nearly a year in a money laundering investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Following the cancellation of the excise policy case, the CBI has summoned Kejriwal to appear at their headquarters on April 16 to answer questions from the investigators. The AAP claims that this is an attempt by the BJP to silence their opposition. According to AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, Kejriwal exposed alleged ties between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and industrialist Gautam Adani during the assembly session, and Singh warned him that he could be the next target of the BJP.
