Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP of risking lives by forcibly administering low-quality COVID vaccines after allegedly taking donations from vaccine maker AstraZeneca, demanding a judicial probe.
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has taken a serious stand against the BJP government and said that it has endangered the lives of people by asking for political donations from a manufacturer of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The dispute started after UK-based AstraZeneca disclosed in court documents that its COVID vaccine Covishield can cause the rare blood clotting issue in 'very rare cases'.
"More than 80 crore Indians have now been vaccinated with two doses of Covishield and the manufacturer of its original formula has now said it causes heart attacks," Yadav said. "This demonstrates the truth in the words of those who claimed the vaccine to be dangerous."
Yadav asked for an investigation at the highest level of the judicial system and mentioned that "such deadly drugs" are actually means of murder. "The ruling party has put people’s lives in danger by soliciting political donations from the vaccine company; it’ll be neither the law nor the public who will forgive them," he expressed.
The Samajwadi Party has accused the BJP of accepting "commissions" from pharmaceuticals and the imposition of poor-quality vaccines on the public during the outbreak. Just like Dimple Yadav who is a leader of BSP, they accused the BJP of receiving Rs 200-300 crore in donations to allow the company to market its vaccine in India.
BJP leaders as yet have not answered these highly damaging allegations concerning the opportunity for corruption in the vaccination process that vaccinated hundreds of millions of people in India.
AstraZeneca’s clarification regarding the possible mild side effects has resurrected the worries about the safety of the vaccine that the Indian population is getting from the Serum Institute. Health experts emphasize that the regulators had granted the approval based on the data on its safety and efficacy after reviewing it.
