Karnataka implements stringent measures amidst rising Covid cases and JN.1 infections, advising mask-wearing and home isolation for symptomatic individuals, while also procuring doses of the Corbevax vaccine. With 74 new cases and two deaths reported, active cases now stand at 464, prompting enhanced precautions.
In
response to the recent surge in Covid cases and the emergence of JN.1 infections, the Karnataka government's cabinet sub-committee on coronavirus has
outlined crucial guidelines. Emphasizing safety, it advises stringent adherence
to protocols: wearing masks remains imperative. Specifically, individuals
displaying symptoms, especially children, should avoid attending schools. This
directive aims to curtail potential transmission within educational settings.
The
committee underscores the importance of observing COVID-appropriate behavior,
urging citizens to maintain social distancing rigorously. Moreover, it
advocates a seven-day period of home isolation for those infected, a measure
aimed at reducing community spread.
Another
pivotal step involves the administration of a "precautionary vaccine"
intended for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and individuals with
underlying health conditions. To achieve this, the government has secured
30,000 doses of the Corbevax vaccine from the Central authorities.
Despite these proactive measures, Karnataka's recent health bulletin reported 74 new COVID-19 cases and sadly confirmed two coronavirus-related fatalities within a 24-hour timeframe. This surge has propelled the total number of active cases in the state to 464.

Additionally,
the bulletin highlighted encouraging statistics: 44 patients were discharged
within the same duration, signifying progress in recovery. Notably, the health
department conducted a total of 6,403 tests, comprising 4,680 RT-PCR and 1,723
Rapid Antigen tests. Amid these examinations, the positivity rate settled at
1.15%, while the case fatality rate stands at 2.70%.
Currently, among the 464 active cases, 423 individuals are undergoing home isolation, prioritizing containment. Simultaneously, 41 patients require hospitalization, with 16 of them admitted to intensive care units (ICUs). The remaining 25 patients are receiving care in the general ward.
