Arvind Kejriwal's arrest
Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday night in connection with a money laundering case involving excise policies. For the first time in the nation's history, an Indian government official has been taken into custody.
According to Aam Aadmi Party reports, Arvind Kejriwal will continue to lead the government while incarcerated. But the Bharatiya Janata Party, claiming that it is morally right, has requested his resignation.
On Thursday night, ten Enforcement Division police carried out a two-hour warrant-based search of Kejriwal's residence. Kejriwal was facing legal action from the agency after he disregarded nine of their summonses. The party has planned a sizable protest in the country's capital in response to Kejriwal's arrest.
