Dallewal's statement, seen as critical of PM Modi's rising popularity post the Ram Temple inauguration, drew swift condemnation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

In response to the uproar, Dallewal issued a clarification, emphasizing that his words were misconstrued. He stated that while he advocated for a movement against the government's policies, his intention wasn't to undermine the Prime Minister personally. Dallewal's clarification aimed to defuse tensions sparked by his earlier statement.

Rakesh Tikait, the BKU's national spokesperson, highlighted various issues motivating the strike, including demands for MSP guarantees, addressing unemployment, and reforming pension schemes.
