Atishi, newly appointed Chief Minister of Delhi, has publicly thanked her mentor, Arvind Kejriwal, for the significant role he played in her political journey. In her initial response to the announcement, Atishi praised Kejriwal for trusting her with the chief ministerial role, while also expressing sadness over his resignation.

Kejriwal's resignation, which follows his recent bail in the Delhi excise policy case, marks the end of his tenure as Delhi's chief minister. He had announced his resignation earlier this month, citing a desire for a "certificate of honesty" from the public and urging the Election Commission to schedule new Delhi assembly elections in November.

Atishi, who previously served as an MLA and minister under Kejriwal, acknowledged his pivotal role in her career, stating that his trust had enabled her rise within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). She highlighted the unique opportunity AAP provides for first-time politicians, contrasting it with other parties where such advancement might be unlikely.

Despite her excitement about her new role, Atishi noted the emotional impact of Kejriwal’s departure. She emphasized that Delhi will always recognize Kejriwal as its primary leader, and reiterated her commitment to continuing his legacy.

Kejriwal's resignation came amidst political controversy and legal battles, with the Bharatiya Janata Party suggesting that his decision was influenced by Supreme Court conditions related to his bail.
