Ayushmann Khurrana Highlights: "View Dream Girl 2 with an Open Mind"

Addressing critiques of his latest film, the comedy "Dream Girl 2," Ayushmann Khurrana shared his perspective on allegations of regression. Speaking with Bollywood Hungama, Ayushmann compared the film's audience to that of "Gadar 2," noting that it might not resonate with those who scrutinize it intensely.

I was absolutely certain that this film isn't meant for those who are overly critical. That was crystal clear. If you can set aside that aspect… This film is intended for the unreservedly lively, commercial, single-screen, small-town audience. The same audience as that of Gadar 2. Logic doesn't apply here. There's an insane suspension of disbelief in the movie," Ayushmann conveyed during the interview.

Delving into the nuances here isn't feasible. There isn't a substantial message within the film, yet it manages to be inclusive. It lightly touches upon LGBTQ representation, as seen in Abhishek Banerjee's character who ultimately states, 'Love is love.' This underlines acceptance. For instance, there's a Muslim family marrying into a Sardar and a Hindu family. Those familiar with our culture will likely view it as progressive. However, for those who meticulously scrutinize, they can highlight shortcomings, but the film simply isn't intended for them," Ayushmann further explained.

He expressed that as long as Dream Girl 2 continues to resonate, he will remain emboldened to venture into more forward-thinking projects akin to Andhadhun, Article 15, and An Action Hero.

Within Dream Girl 2's narrative, Ayushmann portrays a swindler striving to captivate a group of solitary men by adopting the persona of Pooja. The ensemble cast includes Ananya Panday, Annu Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, Vijay Raaz, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Seema Pahwa, and Asrani, among other talented performers.
