Babil Khan, Son of Irrfan Khan, Opts for Auditions Over Privilege for Work Opportunities

Babil Khan, Son of Irrfan Khan

Having ventured into the world of acting, Babil Khan, the son of the late Irrfan Khan, marked his debut with "Qala," an OTT platform release from the previous year. Amid the usual scrutiny faced by star progenies for seemingly effortless industry entry, Babil has candidly shared his divergence from privilege. He notably chooses the audition path to procure roles, demonstrating his commitment to earning opportunities genuinely.

Speaking with BBC, Babil shared his earnest approach to his acting aspirations, highlighting his commitment to auditions and rigorous training. He recounted a poignant moment involving a film producer who approached him after the project's conclusion.

Expressing fandom, the producer offered high praise by saying, "I am a huge fan of yours." Curious, Babil inquired about the reason behind this sentiment, to which the producer responded, "First, the remarkable footage caught my eye, and secondly, witnessing Irrfan Khan's son auditions was incredible; your performance was extraordinary. We are immensely proud of you."

He went on to disclose that his auditioning process serves as a means to dispel self-doubt, ultimately fostering a sense of self-affirmation. Despite acknowledging his mother Sutapa Sikdar's industry connections, he chose not to exploit them by refraining from making those calls. He emphasized his inability to envision a scenario where he secures work without the knowledge that he genuinely earned it.

Regarding his professional endeavors, Babil's upcoming project titled "Friday Night Plan" is on the horizon. The film features a cast ensemble including Amrith Jayan, Aadhya Anand, Medha Rana, Ninad Kamat, and a special appearance by Juhi Chawla.
