Bhai Dooj, resembling Raksha Bandhan, marks its presence on November 15 this year. Renowned Astrologer Parduman Suri elaborates on its customs, tilak's significance, and associated narratives. During tilak application, Astrologer Suri advises orienting the brother's face north or northwest for auspiciousness. Wearing black or blue attire is discouraged for siblings on this revered occasion. The tilak ceremony transcends ritual, symbolizing prayers for the brother's prosperous life, often accompanied by gift exchanges. This act is believed to ward off Yam's fear, ensuring wealth and prosperity.

Legends encircle Bhai Dooj's origin: in Satyug, Yama received a tilak from sister Yamuna, securing sisters from death fears. Lord Krishna's visit to sister Subhadra after vanquishing Narakasur also birthed this celebration.

Auspicious timings for Bhai Dooj rituals span from 6:44 am to 9:24 am and 10:40 am to 12:00 pm. Celebrated in Kartik's bright fortnight, Bhai Dooj signifies siblings' enduring bond. Sisters tie a sacred thread and apply tilak, symbolizing protection and love. Brothers reciprocate with blessings and a traditional dry coconut (Gola).

To apply tilak, start by worshipping Lord Ganesha and preparing a plate with essentials like roli, akshat, coconut, and sweets. Timing the tilak ceremony is pivotal for its sanctity. Sisters can cook a special meal for their brothers post-ceremony. The brother, seeking blessings, gifts his sister in a gesture of gratitude.
