Adelaide Strikers, gearing up for BBL 13, encountered a substantial setback with star spinner Rashid Khan ruled out due to a severe back injury necessitating surgery. This announcement, confirmed by the franchise, has sent shockwaves through the Big Bash League community.

The Strikers' management, in a formal statement released on Thursday, conveyed the unfortunate news regarding Rashid's unavailability. This development is a considerable loss for the team, as articulated by Tim Nielsen, the Strikers' General Manager, Cricket.

"Rashid's absence is a massive blow for us," Nielsen expressed, acknowledging the leg-spinner's significant contributions over his seven-year tenure with the team. "His absence will be strongly felt this season. We stand by Rashid as he undergoes treatment, prioritizing his long-term well-being in the sport."

The franchise, while expressing regret at Rashid's departure, has yet to unveil a replacement for the forthcoming season. They assured fans that discussions with the coaching staff are underway to finalize a substitute player swiftly. This follows the earlier exit of Harry Brook, further exacerbating the team's concerns ahead of the league.

Both Rashid Khan and Harry Brook were slated as crucial picks for the upcoming season, and their unexpected withdrawals have left the Adelaide Strikers in a precarious position as they navigate the challenges preceding the BBL 13 campaign. The team now faces the critical task of finding a suitable replacement to fill Rashid Khan's influential role in the tournament.
