While acknowledging that the Congress was trailing in the ongoing Lok Sabha election campaign, Pu Lalbiakzama expressed amazement at the Mizoram voter turnout.

Every time I run for office, a large crowd comes to support us. Following their observations on the treatment of minorities in Central India, people in Mizoram declared they would support the Congress Party in the next election. The public's fear has been greatly heightened by the developments in India. The Indian National Congress is the only political party that is capable of combating this. I'm pleased with the favorable responses I'm getting.

Lalbiakzama questioned the lack of response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to violent crimes, highlighting that the Mizoram people's greatest concern right now is the fear of minorities being marginalized.

One of the most urgent issues facing Mizoram at the moment is the fear that minority communities are being marginalized. Their religious beliefs are being ignored. The persecution of Christians in India is increasing, just like any other trend. Between 2014 and 2015, there were 687 fewer violent events than there were in 2014. But the ministers of home affairs, Amit Shah and Narendra Modi, remained silent. These are the issues that Mizoram is also facing.
