BJP's Manoj Tiwari is leading by a massive margin against Congress' Kanhaiya Kumar in the North East Delhi Lok Sabha seat, as the saffron party eyes a hat-trick of victories across all seven parliamentary constituencies in the national capital.
While the vote counting in the North East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency is on, BJP candidate Manoj Tiwari has taken a huge lead over his nearest rival Kanhaiya Kumar of Congress.
As per the record maintained by the Election Commission of India, Tiwari, having been a two-term sitting MP in this constituency, has polled 657142 votes so far while the candidate Kumar has been able to attract only 531764 votes.
Tiwari was the former Delhi BJP chief and a popular Bhojpuri actor who is expected to triumph in the North East Delhi which he has won in 2014 and 2019. His main competitor Kumar who was an ex-president of JNUSU, was the second time in the Lok Sabha elections where he had lost in Bihar’s Begusarai in 2019.
North East Delhi is a parliamentary constituency that came into existence only in the year 2009; its earlier MP was Jai Prakash Agarwal of the Congress party and he represented the 15th Lok Sabha. This time the contest was directly between the BJP and AAP-Congress alliance as the other parties were marginalized in terms of vote share.
The BJP is now aiming for a record three consecutive victories in all the seven parliamentary seats in Delhi. Some of the other leading members associated with the party are Bansuri Swaraj from New Delhi and Harsh Malhotra from East Delhi amongst others.

While the vote counting is in process across the country, the majority of the exit polls indicate a super performance and a majority government for the BJP at the center. However, some of the opinion makers have expected the BJP NDA and the Indian opposition alliance to be very competitive.
