TMC leader Mahua Moitra accuses BJP of using ISRO's Chandrayaan-3 success for the 2024 election campaign, sparking a debate on the intersection of science and politics in India.

Taking a jibe at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while speaking Chandrayaan-3, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra, on Saturday claimed that the saffron party will make ISRO their campaign tool for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Moitra took to social media to express her concerns, stating that the BJP would capitalize on every ISRO mission to generate nationalistic fervor before the elections.

She also singled out what she referred to as the "Bhakt and troll army," alleging that they are tirelessly working to portray Indian scientific achievements as "Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai magic."

Moitra's comments come in the wake of India's historic achievement on August 23 when ISRO successfully landed the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft on the Moon's south pole, marking the nation as the first to achieve this feat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was in South Africa for the BRICS summit at the time, virtually congratulated the nation for this milestone.

While commending ISRO's achievement, Moitra reminded the BJP that it was not the first lunar landing and emphasized that neither Prime Minister Modi nor the BJP's IT Cell can claim credit for the scientific research behind Chandrayaan.

In response to the success of Chandrayaan-3, PM Modi arrived in Bengaluru to meet the ISRO team responsible for the mission's success. Addressing a crowd at the HAL airport, he expressed his enthusiasm for meeting the "ISRO family."

Senior Scientist Nidhi Porwal described the accomplishment as "magic" and praised the dedicated team that worked tirelessly over four years to achieve it.
