In Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch sector, the Indian Army successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt that occurred during the night of April 8 and 9. Vigilant Indian Army troops detected suspicious movement by a group of individuals along the Line of Control (LoC).

"On the night of April 8 and 9, the alert troops of the Indian Army detected suspicious movement by a group of individuals. The Indian Army troops promptly challenged the intruders on their own side of the Line of Control (LoC), near the fence," stated PRO Defence, Jammu.
"After being intercepted, one intruder was found dead while the other intruders fled into the forest area during the ensuing operations. The area has been cordoned off and a search operation is underway," added the Defence PRO.
On April 6, Srinagar police apprehended two narco smugglers involved in cross-border smuggling. The police seized 11.08 kg of Heroin, worth Rs 70 crores, from them. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sajjad Badana and Zaheer Tanch. An FIR has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act at Rajbagh police station.
