Shamanur Shivashankarappa, a prominent Congressman from Karnataka and member of the Legislative Assembly for Davangere South, caused a controversy when he addressed a sexist remark made by his BJP opponent, Gayatri Siddeshwara. Because of her lack of political experience, the lawmaker says Gayatri should be deemed "fit to cook".
Shivashankarappa explained to the party workers that "she ought to have a solid understanding of the issues that are prevalent in this constituency before she asks for votes." Her only asset is her cooking; she has no idea what she's doing when it comes to public speaking. She is absolutely inadequate, even in public. Many diverse organizations protested Shivashankarappa for his derogatory remarks about the leader of the Hindu political party, and he was eventually requested to apologize.
Speaking on the remarks made by the top official of the Congress party, Gayatri stated, "Ajja (grandfather) ought to be aware that women are making a difference in every industry." In 2024, will we still be confined to our kitchens? It is unacceptable to make such claims.

In a statement, DK Shivakumar, the chief of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), condemned Shivashankarappa's remarks and said that his party would not back them as long as this was going on.
His reply was: "I emphatically condemn any statement that even remotely reeks of sexism and misogyny coming from anyone." Among the Karnataka Congress Party's women-focused initiatives are Gruhalakshmi, Shakti, Gruhajyothi, and Anna Bhagya. The Akka Cafe proposal was unveiled during the most recent budget session, highlighting our continued belief in women as the strong representatives of prosperity and advancement. No amount of regressive discourse can ever change my party's and my continued commitment to the idea that women should be acknowledged as equal contributors to the advancement of the country.
Saina Nehwal replied to the comment by saying, when she won medals for India on the play field, what would the Congress party have chosen she should has done? She didn't agree with it. She is a badminton player. Why would you say that, considering that every girl and woman strives to be the best in all she does? One of the things we are doing is taking part in Nari Shakti koVandan. Our Prime Minister Modi sir led the nation to pass the Women's Reservation Bill, despite the fact that some of it is sexist and a component of Nari Shakti kaapman. It really irritates me.
