Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath met with Sonia Gandhi, expressing his desire for a Rajya Sabha seat. With elections for 56 Rajya Sabha seats imminent, including prominent figures like Manmohan Singh and JP Nadda, political maneuvers intensify ahead of the nomination process.

In a significant political move, Kamal Nath, the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, met with Sonia Gandhi in Delhi, where he conveyed his earnest wish to secure a Rajya Sabha seat, as per insider sources. The Congress party, gearing up for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha Election 2024, is tasked with obtaining one seat from Madhya Pradesh, and Kamal Nath has reportedly put forth his claim for this position.

Simultaneously, Kamal Nath has already declared the candidature of his son, Nakul Nath, for the Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat in the upcoming general elections. Intriguingly, Kamal Nath aims to secure a Rajya Sabha seat from the same constituency, signaling a strategic political move.

The upcoming Rajya Sabha Election, slated for February 27, marks a crucial juncture in Indian politics. Notable figures such as former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and BJP President JP Nadda are among the incumbents whose tenures will conclude in April, necessitating a robust electoral process.

Furthermore, the vacancies in the Rajya Sabha include seats currently held by nine Union ministers, adding to the significance of the impending elections. The nomination process is scheduled to commence on February 8, with nominations accepted until February 15, followed by the withdrawal of candidature by February 20.

Traditionally, voting will be conducted from 9 am to 4 pm on the election day, with the counting process set to commence from 5 pm onwards. As political stakeholders brace themselves for the electoral contest, Kamal Nath's aspirations and strategic maneuvers inject a sense of anticipation and intrigue into the political landscape.
