Former South African cricketer and coach, Mike Procter, passed away at the age of 77 in Durban, leaving the cricketing world in mourning. His wife, Maryna, confirmed his demise to the South African press on February 17. Procter's death was attributed to complications arising from heart surgery, marking the end of an era for cricket enthusiasts worldwide.

Mike Procter's cricketing journey, though relatively brief, was marked by exceptional talent and dedication. Despite playing only seven Test matches, he etched his name in the annals of cricket history with remarkable performances. Notably, all his Test appearances were against Australia, where he displayed his prowess with both bat and ball.

In his seven Test outings, Procter showcased his all-round skills, amassing 226 runs and scalping 41 wickets. His bowling prowess was particularly noteworthy, with an impressive average of 15.02. During this period, South Africa remained unbeaten, winning six matches and drawing one, a testament to Procter's contribution to the team's success.

Procter's cricketing excellence extended beyond the international arena. He garnered acclaim for his stellar performances in domestic cricket, especially during his tenure with Gloucestershire.
