Delhi Police will investigate Arvind Kejriwal's allegations against BJP’s Parvesh Verma for MCC violations, including cash distribution and job camps. The DEO's preliminary report found no evidence supporting the claims. Kejriwal also alleged electoral roll manipulation and collusion by officials, which were denied. The Election Commission has promised further scrutiny.
The Delhi Police will investigate allegations made by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal against BJP candidate Parvesh Verma for allegedly violating the moral code of conduct (MCC) during the New Delhi assembly elections. The district election officer (DEO) has forwarded the complaints to law enforcement for further action.
Kejriwal accused Verma of distributing ₹1100 cash and organizing job camps under the “Har Ghar Naukari” campaign, which he claimed amounted to corrupt practices under the Representation of Peoples Act. After meeting with the Election Commission (EC), Kejriwal demanded that Verma be barred from contesting elections and that his residence be searched for unaccounted money.
The DEO, in a report to the Delhi chief electoral officer, stated that flying squads tasked with investigating MCC violations found no evidence of the alleged job camps or related pamphlets. Instructions were issued to prevent any such activities on January 15.
In addition to allegations of MCC violations, Kejriwal accused the local election officer of colluding with the BJP, facilitating alleged wrongdoings, and enabling voter deletions from the New Delhi constituency’s electoral rolls. The election officer denied the claims, asserting that field investigations found no basis for the allegations and that steps were taken to ensure fairness.

The Election Commission assured Kejriwal of strict action against any confirmed violations, though initial probes have yet to substantiate his claims. The controversy has added tension to the ongoing electoral process in the capital.
