Former cricketer Mrinank Singh's arrest revealed a web of deceit involving luxury hotels and cricketer Rishabh Pant. In a startling revelation, former cricketer Mrinank Singh has been apprehended for fraudulent activities involving luxury hotels and Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant. Singh's detention on December 25 stemmed from his elaborate ruse, where he masqueraded as both an IPS officer and an IPL player to deceive multiple luxury establishments, including the prominent Taj Palace in Delhi, defrauding them of a substantial sum totaling Rs 5.5 lakh. Shockingly, his deceit extended to Rishabh Pant, allegedly duping the cricketer of a staggering Rs 1.6 crore.

The Additional DCP, Ravikant Kumar, divulged Singh's modus operandi, recounting an incident from July 2022 when Singh presented himself at the Taj Palace under the guise of a celebrated cricketer affiliated with the IPL. During his nearly week-long stay, Singh accumulated expenses amounting to approximately Rs 5.6 lakh, assuring the hotel that his expenses would be covered by his sponsor, Adidas. However, investigations revealed the falsity of the provided bank account details and card information, raising suspicions about Singh's authenticity. Despite attempts to contact Singh and his manager, their responses only comprised empty assurances, leading to the filing of a formal complaint.

The police further disclosed Singh's duplicitous strategies, highlighting his impersonation as a senior police officer from Karnataka at some establishments while projecting himself as a renowned cricketer at others. Additionally, Singh's active presence on social media, posting selfies with women to fabricate an image of popularity and a vast fanbase, contributed to his deceptive façade.

Moreover, media reports shed light on Singh's elaborate scheme to defraud Rishabh Pant, wherein he purported to be a luxury watches and jewelry businessman. Pant purportedly handed over watches in exchange for a cheque that ultimately bounced, resulting in a significant financial loss for the cricketer. Singh, who claimed association with the Haryana U19 team and Mumbai Indians in the IPL, employed these fraudulent claims to orchestrate his deceits, perpetuating a web of falsehoods to carry out his scams.
