Donald Trump Created False Expectation of Arrest Under a Bribery Payment Investigation; Says Manhattan District Attorney

On Thursday, the
Manhattan district attorney's office alleged that Donald Trump fabricated
rumours of his arrest and encouraged Republicans in Congress to intervene in
the investigation being conducted by the office.
Donald Trump's
involvement in a bribery payment to porn star Stormy Daniels just before his
presidential election days was the subject of testimony before a grand jury in
January.
Daniels, whose actual name is Stephanie Clifford and is a well-known adult film director and actress, claims she received a bribery payment for her silence on a sexual encounter she had with Trump in 2006. However, Trump asserted his innocence by referring to the transaction as a ‘simple private transaction’ and claimed that the inquiry was conducted for political reasons.
Donald Trump would be the first American president to be charged with a crime if arrested. He held presidential powers from 2017 until 2021 and is probably running a third campaign for the presidency despite numerous legal issues.
Additionally, a
state-level investigation in Georgia is also investigating whether Trump
illegally attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 election and handling
government documents after leaving the White House.
