Dulquer Salmaan, set to grace screens in the forthcoming Netflix series "Guns & Gulaabs" by Raj & DK, recently opened up about his deep-seated affection for driving. He shared an intriguing revelation, recounting how his automotive journey commenced at the tender age of 9. During a conversation with Mashable India, DQ fondly recounted a memory where, at the age of 9, his family employed a driver who imparted the rudiments of driving using a Maruti 800. Interestingly, he added that his father, the renowned Malayalam superstar Mammootty, remained blissfully unaware of this youthful escapade.

At the age of 9, while my sister was 11, we found ourselves under the care of a kind-hearted, slightly older driver. Our persistent pleas to him were met with his patient agreement to impart driving lessons. Our vehicle of choice was a Maruti 800, and despite barely reaching the pedals, we managed to decipher the art of shifting gears. As our journey continued, the intricacies of the clutch and other pedals gradually unfolded," he recounted.

Upon mastering the art of driving, Dulquer enthusiastically seized every opportunity to occupy the coveted driver's seat, even if it involved merely parking the vehicle. "Once we had learned, I'd eagerly grasp at any pretext, be it the simple task of parking within our premises or deftly reversing the car – any reason to immerse myself in the act of driving. Interestingly, this escapade remained unbeknownst to my father," he revealed.

The protagonist of "The King of Kotha" went on to disclose that upon his father's discovery, the response was surprisingly composed. "Upon revealing my newfound skill within our confined premises, his reaction was unexpectedly nonchalant," Dulquer narrated. "In scenarios where we were within enclosed surroundings, he would proudly exhibit my driving prowess to his acquaintances. With an air of amazement, he'd summon the car forth, prompting a chorus of astonishment among his friends. He would affirmatively declare, 'Indeed, he possesses the ability to drive'," he fondly reminisced.

Dulquer Salmaan has frequently expressed his deep-seated affection for automobiles in various instances before. An avid car enthusiast and collector, he has chosen to keep the precise count of his car collection shrouded in mystery. Quizzed about the quantity of vehicles under his ownership, he playfully responded to Top Gear India, stating, "This might land me in a bit of a spot," with a chuckle. He continued, "My garage houses an array of pre-owned cars, and I'm also deeply involved in the restoration of automobiles.
