Official sources declared on Monday that Chanpreet Singh, who is suspected of having "managed" campaign funds for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the 2022 Goa Assembly elections, has been taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate. This arrest was the result of an inquiry into allegations of money laundering with the Delhi liquor policy.

There was not a single penny or any proof to support the AAP's allegations that the Enforcement Department (ED) was "politically motivated" in its probe.

According to reports, Singh was detained on April 12th in compliance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and was brought before a special court here the following day.

As directed by the court, he is expected to stay under the care of the ED until April 18.

The investigating agency has made seventeen arrests in relation to the probe.

The federal agency had earlier detained a number of people, including Bharat Rashtra Samiti leader K Kavitha, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and other booze dealers.

Regarding the same investigation, Chanpreet Singh was held by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Everything began when the CBI submitted a First Information Report (FIR).

In 2022, he "managed" financial payments for the AAP campaign and had a "relationship" with the party, as per official data that the Enforcement Department (ED) submitted to the court.

The 'South Group', allegedly made up of Sarath Chandra Reddy, Raghav Magunta, Kavitha, and Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy (a TDP candidate for the Ongole Lok Sabha seat), bribed the AAP with 100 crore rupees to gain a favorable position in the Delhi liquor market under the disastrous liquor policy for 2021–2022.
