The Indian National Congress has taken decisive action against Mewaram Jain, a former MLA, following the circulation of scandalous video clips depicting his involvement in objectionable conduct. This move came swiftly in response to the widespread dissemination of these clips across various social media platforms.

Rajasthan Congress chief, Govind Singh Dotasra, emphasized the breach of party discipline inherent in Jain’s actions, leading to his immediate suspension from the party. The party's statement explicitly linked Jain's behavior to what they deemed as "immoral activities," prompting this severe disciplinary measure.

This development surfaces amidst a troubling case that unfolded in December 2023, wherein a woman accused Jain and several others, including a prominent officer named Anand Singh Rajpurohit, of raping and molesting her teenage daughter. Jain, a three-time Congress MLA from Barmer, faced electoral defeat in the last elections to BJP rebel Priyanka Choudhary.

Jain's history has been marked by controversies, including the emergence of explicit materials purportedly featuring him. Despite his claims of tampering, these incidents caused significant turmoil, prompting Jain to file a case with the local police station in Barmer.
