In the realm of cricket, Fakhar Zaman's resurgence took center stage as Pakistan triumphed over New Zealand. This exciting development unfolded during the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 at Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on a memorable Saturday.

After a brief hiatus from the playing XI, Zaman roared back, demonstrating his prowess and marking a significant comeback. The talented southpaw had faced temporary exile from the team, replaced by Abdullah Shafique following the initial two matches of the tournament. Shafique, replacing Zaman, promptly made an impact by scoring a century against Australia, hosted at the same venue.

Zaman's return came at the expense of Imam ul Haq, in a rain-affected match, where he proved his worth as an invaluable team member. With a batting average of 47.17 and a striking rate of 93.64, Zaman's ODI statistics are nothing short of impressive. He boasts 16 half-centuries and 11 centuries to his name.

Despite these stellar figures, Zaman encountered a challenging phase just before the World Cup. He managed to accumulate only 59 runs in a three-match bilateral series against Afghanistan and a cumulative 65 runs in five appearances during the Asia Cup.

Recognizing the ups and downs of professional cricket, Zaman addressed his performance directly, saying, "The Asia Cup didn't go well for me." My best score was 30. It wasn't the best of times. I traveled to Peshawar to work at Aftab Khan's academy. He'd pointed out my vulnerability to off-spin. He was an off-spinner, so I spent a lot of time with him."

Zaman's century in the most recent encounter demonstrated his hard effort and determination. "The wicket was very good, there was no turn, nothing," he stated. We were thinking about rain. We have been aware of the prediction since yesterday. As a result, after 15 overs, we (Babar and himself) sent a message upstairs to management, asking for a target of 20 overs. We wanted to make something up (in those five overs). Planning is essential at this stage."

With Pakistan approaching a possible semi-final spot, Zaman's stunning performance injects newfound confidence into the team. His explosive innings included eight boundaries and 11 sixes, culminating in a remarkable 126 off 81 deliveries. The track record of Fakhar Zaman, especially his century in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, underscores his ability to rise to the occasion.

As Pakistan continues its journey in the World Cup, the team, led by Babar Azam, appears well-prepared for the challenges that lie ahead. Fakhar Zaman's triumphant return serves as a significant asset, fueling Pakistan's aspirations in the tournament.
