Mithun Chakraborty faces an FIR in West Bengal for allegedly provocative remarks at a BJP event, asserting that the party would take power in the 2026 state elections. BJP’s Sukanta Majumdar labeled the case as "vendetta politics," claiming Chakraborty’s words were not incendiary. An investigation is underway.
Actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty, also a prominent BJP leader, faces a police complaint in West Bengal after a speech he delivered at a BJP event in Salt Lake on October 27. Filed by the Bidhannagar Police, the FIR accuses Chakraborty of inciting divisive sentiment by asserting that the "masnad" (throne) of West Bengal would belong to the BJP after the 2026 Assembly elections, vowing to “do whatever it takes” to ensure victory.
Chakraborty’s comments at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre event were seen as a call to action for BJP’s booth-level workers, urging them to resist voter intimidation tactics. The speech came in response to earlier communal remarks allegedly made by TMC MLA Humayun Kabir aimed at BJP supporters.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also in attendance, marking the start of the BJP's membership drive in the state. Responding to the FIR, BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar denounced it as "vendetta politics," claiming that Chakraborty’s statements were non-incendiary and accusing authorities of misusing police resources.
