A deadly explosion at an illegal firecracker factory in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, claimed five lives, including two children and a woman, and injured eleven others. The blast occurred late Monday night in the Naushera area, where firecrackers were being manufactured illegally in a godown-cum-factory.

Authorities, including police and rescue teams, swiftly responded to the incident, with hospitals in the region placed on high alert. Rescue efforts are underway, assisted by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and sniffer dogs.

Eyewitnesses have alleged that local police were aware of the factory’s illegal operations and were bribed to overlook the dangers. One local resident mentioned that repeated complaints had been made, but no action was taken. The explosion damaged 16 houses and affected an area within a 5-kilometer radius.
