Former Rajasthan Minister Rajendra Singh Gudha has joined the Shiv Sena after being dismissed from his post for comments critical of law and order in the state.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde made the announcement of Gudha's joining the Shiv Sena during a rally in Gudha's assembly constituency of Udaipurwati in the Jhunjhunu district.
Eknath Shinde welcomed Rajendra Gudha warmly and noted that Gudha had resigned from his ministerial position for the benefit of the people. Shinde praised Gudha for prioritising the protection of women and expressed his agreement with the former minister's attitude on law and order concerns.
The Rajasthan government removed Gudha from his position as minister of state for panchayati raj and rural development in July. He lost his ministerial position after he made headlines by comparing sexual abuse in war-torn Manipur to crimes committed against women in Rajasthan.
The former minister had also claimed possession of a "red diary" containing alleged details of illegal transactions by the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government in Rajasthan.
Eknath Shinde pointed out the pressing need for improved law and order, women's safety, job opportunities for youths, and progress for farmers in Rajasthan. He underscored the potential for growth in sectors like mining and the need for industrial development to create employment opportunities for local youth, thereby reducing the need for migration in search of jobs.
According to Shinde, Gudha's decision to resign as a minister and join the Shiv Sena was motivated by his dedication to the truth.
In response to rumours that the Shiv Sena and the BJP would form an alliance in Rajasthan, Shinde said that, as elections approach, the party's focus would be on the "politics of development" rather than on coalition-building.
It's worth noting that Rajendra Gudha, along with five other BSP MLAs, all joined the ruling party in Rajasthan after running for assembly in 2018 on a ticket affiliated with the BSP.
