NCP leader Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai, with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang under investigation for the murder. The same gang had targeted Salman Khan earlier this year. Despite Y-category security, Siddique was killed in a suspected contract hit, leading to the formation of special investigation teams.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, currently under investigation for the murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique, has a history of targeting prominent personalities, including Bollywood actor Salman Khan. Baba Siddique was shot dead near his son's office in Mumbai on Saturday night, despite having received death threats and being upgraded to Y-category security just 15 days earlier.

Siddique, a former three-time MLA for Bandra West and a key figure in the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP, was known for his connections with Bollywood stars such as Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Sanjay Dutt. According to police, two shooters arrested for Siddique’s murder claimed affiliation with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which had previously issued threats to Salman Khan.

In April, the same gang allegedly orchestrated a shooting outside Salman Khan’s residence, acting under direct orders from Lawrence Bishnoi via the Signal app. Siddique had been vocal about security concerns for Salman Khan, pushing for enhanced protection for the actor.

Mumbai Police have set up four special investigation teams to probe Siddique’s killing, suspecting it may have been a contract hit. The police confirmed that the attack occurred between 9:15 and 9:30 PM on October 12, when Siddique was leaving his office. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
