AR Dairy refutes allegations of supplying adulterated ghee with fish oil for Tirupati laddus. The firm defends its quality standards while TTD and officials investigate the case. Spiritual leaders and the public call for accountability in temple management amidst concerns over the scandal.
An employee of AR Dairy Food Private Limited, a Tamil Nadu-based company accused of supplying adulterated ghee to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) for the Tirupati temple’s laddu prasadam, has rejected the allegations. The company faces legal action after reports claimed that fish oil and animal fats were used in the ghee.
Kanan, a quality control officer at AR Dairy, stated that the claim of fish oil adulteration is illogical since fish oil is more expensive than ghee and any such adulteration would be easily detected by smell. He emphasized that the company has followed stringent quality standards since 1998, with the ghee undergoing multiple tests before reaching the temple. Both national labs and TTD officials conduct rigorous checks on the ghee before it is approved for prasadam use.

Meanwhile, spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar expressed concerns over the scandal, stating that it has deeply affected the sentiments of Hindu devotees. He called for temple management to be handled by religious leaders rather than commercial entities. TTD officials revealed that lab tests had detected animal fat in some samples, prompting the ongoing investigation. Andhra minister Nara Lokesh assured the public that strict action would be taken against those responsible for any wrongdoing.
