DGCA approval

Budget carrier Go First's flight resumption plan has been approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) with certain conditions, as reported on Friday. Go First, formerly known as GoAir, had suspended its operations on May 3 due to financial troubles and is currently undergoing an insolvency resolution process.

The DGCA reviewed and accepted Go First's proposed resumption plan, which outlines the operation of 15 aircraft and 114 daily flights. However, the acceptance comes with a caveat. It is subject to the outcome of writ petitions that are pending before the Delhi High Court and the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).

Budget carrier Go First's flight resumption plan has been approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) with certain conditions, as reported on Friday.

To proceed with resuming flights, Go First must secure interim funding and obtain approval from the DGCA for its flight schedule. The DGCA also directed the airline to comply with all applicable regulatory requirements and ensure the airworthiness of its aircraft involved in operations.

Go First's Resolution Professional (RP) submitted the resumption plan to the DGCA on June 28, following which a special audit of the airline's facilities in Mumbai and Delhi was conducted by the regulatory authority. The DGCA confirmed that the findings of the special audit were adequately addressed by Go First. However, the resumption plan was later amended on July 15.

This approval from the DGCA brings a glimmer of hope for the airline's revival, but it remains dependent on resolving legal matters in the Delhi High Court and the NCLT. The airline's ability to secure funding and adhere to safety regulations will also play a crucial role in its eventual return to the skies.

As Go First navigates through the insolvency resolution process and the complexities of resuming operations, the aviation industry and passengers alike are keenly watching the developments. The airline's successful return to the skies could offer a much-needed boost to the sector, while ensuring passenger safety and regulatory compliance remains paramount throughout the process.
