In Haryana's Gurugram-Sohna area, a section of the elevated flyover collapsed, impacting traffic flow. Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala labeled it a "natural phenomenon." Despite the collapse, he defended the road projects, emphasizing the absence of man-made faults and highlighting significant investment in the state's road systems.
In
Haryana's infrastructure landscape, a significant event unfolded as a portion
of the elevated Gurugram-Sohna flyover experienced a collapse, disrupting the
regular flow of traffic. This incident drew swift attention from Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, who promptly attributed the occurrence to a
"natural phenomenon."
The collapse not only affected the immediate traffic but also sparked concerns regarding the structural integrity of the infrastructure. Chautala, in response to the incident, made a statement emphasizing the absence of human-made faults in the construction of the flyover. He staunchly defended the quality of the road project, firmly asserting that no deficiencies or errors existed within the development process that could have led to such an occurrence.
Addressing the matter of accountability, Chautala directed the spotlight towards the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), indicating that they would provide the necessary clarifications and insights into the collapse. He indicated that while the collapse occurred, there were no indicators of negligence or faults that could be attributed to the construction or maintenance of the flyover.
Moreover,
in an attempt to provide context and reassure the public, Chautala referenced
past incidents related to road projects. Specifically, he cited two cases
involving the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which underwent
scrutiny due to issues pertaining to slab casting. However, he underscored that
any issues identified in those cases were rectified, and no ongoing concerns
had arisen post-construction.
Highlighting
the government's commitment to infrastructural development, Chautala expressed
confidence in the quality of the state's road projects. He proudly announced an
unprecedented expenditure of Rs 4,000 crore within a single year dedicated to
enhancing Haryana's road network. This substantial investment underscored the
administration's dedication to upgrading and expanding the road infrastructure
across the state, despite the recent setback with the Gurugram-Sohna flyover
collapse.
