A Haryana police officer’s refusal to pay a ₹50 ticket on a Rajasthan state bus has sparked an inter-state clash, with Haryana fining over 50 Rajasthan buses in response. Rajasthan roadways retaliated by penalizing 26 Haryana buses, turning the fare dispute into a broader issue between the states.
A confrontation between a female Haryana police officer and a Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) bus conductor over a ₹50 ticket has sparked a social media stir and led to tit-for-tat penalties by both states. In a viral video, the RSRTC conductor can be seen repeatedly asking the officer, who is in uniform, to pay the bus fare for her travel to Dharuhera in Haryana. The officer, however, firmly refuses, even after being asked to deboard if she cannot pay.
As the argument intensifies, the conductor signals the driver to stop the bus, intending to have the officer step off. However, the officer remains adamant, continuing the dispute over the fare.
Following the video's spread, Haryana authorities responded by issuing fines to over 50 RSRTC buses operating on routes in areas like Gurugram and Faridabad. Rajasthan authorities retaliated by penalizing 26 Haryana Roadways buses, with nine fined at Jaipur's Sindhi Camp and others across the state.
