In the wake of escalating tensions and communal clashes in Haryana's Nuh district, the state government has relaxed curfew temporarily. However, mobile internet services will remain suspended in the Nuh district until August 11.
The decision aims to curb the spread of misinformation and maintain order amidst the unrest. Moreover, a temporary relaxation in the curfew has been announced, allowing residents a four-hour window from 9 am to 1 pm on August 9.
A delegation from Haryana Congress, led by Uday Bhan, faced a setback in their attempt to visit the violence-affected areas in Nuh. The police halted their progress due to security concerns and the prevailing curfew. This move raised questions about transparency and access to information amid the ongoing turmoil.
The recent clashes that began in Nuh originated from an attack on a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) procession. The violence resulted in the tragic loss of six lives, including two home guards and a cleric. This incident sparked further unrest that extended to Gurugram, raising concerns about the situation's potential escalation.
Haryana's Home Minister, Anil Vij, has reported a total of 312 arrests and 106 preventive detentions related to the clashes. Multiple locations, including Nuh, Gurugram, Faridabad, Palwal, Rewari, Panipat, and Bhiwani, have seen the registration of 142 First Information Reports (FIRs) as a response to the violence.
Opposition parties in Haryana have criticized the state's BJP-JJP government, alleging a failure in governance for the communal violence in Nuh. As the situation remains tense, the government's actions and efforts to restore order and ensure the safety of residents are closely scrutinized.
