The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory for Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and nearby regions as a low-pressure area forms in the Bay of Bengal. This system, developing on December 7, is projected to intensify while moving west-northwestwards, nearing the southwest Bay of Bengal by December 12.
Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are expected to experience significant rainfall on December 11 and 12. A cyclonic circulation persists over the Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal, extending up to 3.1 km above sea level. Light to moderate rainfall is already forecasted for parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry starting Saturday, December 7, escalating as the system progresses.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai has urged caution, warning of thunderstorms in affected areas.
