In anticipation of the forthcoming inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Hindu American community in Washington orchestrated a vibrant and enthusiastic car rally, marking the initiation of a month-long jubilation to commemorate this historic event. Converging in a suburb of Washington DC, specifically at the Shri Bhakta Anjaneya Temple along Ayodhya Way near Frederick City Maryland, several members of the community gathered on a Saturday afternoon to kickstart the fervent celebrations.

Scheduled for January 22, 2024, the grand inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya has prompted various festivities, beginning with the rally that, as per the organizers, serves as the commencement of a month-long series of celebrations for the Ram Mandir in India. Mahendra Sapa, the president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America DC chapter, expressed, "After 500 years of struggle by Hindus, Bhagwan Shri Ram Mandir is being inaugurated, and so we are organizing a historic celebration of the same in the Washington, DC area on January 20 next year with about 1,000 American Hindu families."

Highlighting the kid-centric nature of the celebration, Sapa outlined, "The celebration will include Ram Leela, stories of Shri Ram, Hindu prayers to Shri Ram, bhajans (devotional songs) to Bhagawan Shri Ram and his family." Additionally, he mentioned that the event would showcase a 45-minute enactment of the life of God Shri Ram, tailored to resonate with children born in America.

Premkumar Swaminathan, a co-organizer and local Tamil Hindu leader, contributed to the festivities by singing a Tamil song in praise of Lord Shri Rama and extending invitations to families for both the January 20 celebration in the USA and the actual inauguration in Ayodhya on January 22 next year.

Further adding diversity to the event, other organizers addressed the audience in Kannada, Telugu, and other languages, emphasizing the paramount significance of Bhagawan Shri Ram, serving as an exemplary figure for Hindus worldwide.

Krishna Gudipati, one of the rally organizers, urged all devotees of Shri Ram to partake in celebrating the Ayodhya Mandir by joining a larger car and motorbike rally.

Echoing the sentiment of significance, Ankur Mishra, a local Hindu leader, emphasized the historic inauguration of the Ayodhya Mandir as a crucial remembrance for numerous Hindu generations and families, fostering the embodiment of model citizens within American culture.

The foundation stone for the temple was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 5, 2020, following a landmark Supreme Court verdict in 2019 that paved the way for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, situated on the banks of the Sarayu River in Uttar Pradesh.
