India has demanded that Canada provide evidence for its allegations about India's involvement in the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar and take action against anti-India Khalistani groups. Despite Trudeau's claims, no substantial evidence has been provided, and India has criticized the politicization of the issue.
India has firmly asked Canada to provide evidence supporting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's allegations regarding India's involvement in the murder of Khalistan Tiger Force terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The Modi government has also demanded that Canada take strong action against anti-India Khalistani elements operating within its borders.
In a meeting with Canadian national security officials and diplomats in a third country on Saturday, India made it clear that Trudeau cannot make unsubstantiated claims about the Indian government's involvement in Nijjar’s murder, which occurred on June 18, 2023. Indian officials emphasized that political interference in investigative agencies, as allegedly happening under the Trudeau government, is a crime.
The meeting took place following a brief exchange between Trudeau and Modi at the ASEAN summit on October 11, where Modi reportedly told Trudeau that it was "not the time and place" to discuss the matter. India's position was also highlighted in response to Trudeau's push for Khalistani political support ahead of Canadian general elections, with Trudeau targeting India for political reasons.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is still investigating Nijjar's murder and has arrested four Sikh youths, with indications that the case may be linked to gang warfare. However, the Trudeau government has not presented any concrete evidence against India, despite raising the issue in Parliament.

Canada's government, under pressure due to its minority status, has been accused of pursuing anti-India policies driven by domestic political interests, particularly from pro-Khalistani groups. With Canadian ministers slated to testify before a public inquiry into foreign interference, India has made it clear that relations can only improve if Canada takes concrete steps against Khalistani activities.
