Wall Collapse in Gujarat Kills 9, Rescue Operations Complete

Nine workers lost their lives after a wall collapsed at a factory construction site in Gujarat's Mehsana district. Rescue operations have concluded, and investigations into possible safety violations by the contractors are ongoing. PM Modi and Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel have announced financial assistance for the families of the deceased and the injured.
A tragic wall collapse at a factory construction site in Jasalpur village, Mehsana, Gujarat, has left nine laborers dead. The incident occurred around noon on Saturday when loose soil collapsed while workers were digging a pit for a tank at an under-construction stainless-steel factory. Among the deceased were two women. The laborers, part of a construction crew, were buried under the soil, with one worker managing to escape.
According to Mehsana Superintendent of Police Tarun Duggal, rescue operations were carried out for two hours, involving fire brigade teams, police, and other workers. The bodies of nine victims were recovered, and one person was successfully rescued. Most of the deceased workers hailed from Dahod, Gujarat, while some were from Rajasthan. They were between 20 and 30 years old.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh from the PM National Relief Fund for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for those injured. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also expressed his grief, offering ₹4 lakh from the CM Relief Fund to the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 to those injured.

Investigations are underway to determine if the project contractors adhered to safety norms, with authorities expected to take action against those found responsible.
