Indian fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat made history as he took to the field for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2023 on Saturday, April 1st. Unadkat has now set an unparalleled record among Indian cricketers by playing for the most number of teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Unadkat has become part of his 7th IPL franchise, surpassing the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Robin Uthappa, Irfan Pathan, Parthiv Patel, Ishant Sharma, and Dinesh Karthik, who have all represented six different teams in the IPL. Australian captain Aaron Finch holds the overall record for playing with the most teams in the IPL, having been a part of nine franchises.
Unadkat's IPL journey began in 2010 when he joined Kolkata Knight Riders and went on to win the title with the team in 2012. In 2013, he moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore before playing for Delhi Daredevils in 2014 and 2015. Unadkat then joined Rising Pune Supergiants in 2017.
In 2018, Rajasthan Royals acquired Unadkat for a whopping INR
11.5 crores. He spent four seasons with the Royals, who released and
repurchased him on two occasions. Mumbai Indians secured Unadkat's services
during the IPL 2022 mega auction, but ahead of IPL 2023, Lucknow Super Giants
signed him.
With this new achievement, Unadkat has etched his name in IPL history, making him a standout player among the Indian cricketing fraternity.
