The Indian cricket community took to social media to celebrate the Indian men’s football team’s historic victory in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship. India secured their ninth title by defeating Kuwait in a thrilling penalty shootout at the Sri Kanteerava Outdoor Stadium. Jay Shah, the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), congratulated the Blue Tigers for their nail-biting triumph. Dinesh Karthik and Washington Sundar, prominent cricketers, also praised the team’s performance in the intense final, commending their skill, teamwork, and determination.

Even the Mumbai Indians, five-time champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, a beloved cricket franchise, extended their congratulations to the Indian football team. Goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu emerged as the hero by making a crucial save during the penalty shootout, leading to animated celebrations among the home fans.


The match saw Shabaib Al Khaldi give Kuwait the lead, but India quickly equalized through Lallianzuala Chhangte. The game eventually came down to a nerve-wracking penalty shootout, with India emerging as the victors with a score of 5-4.
