DRM Vineet Kumar Srivastava mentioned that the QR code facility has been initiated at both entry gates of Banaras station. The UTS counters have the option for payment via UPI in the fare repeater. Varanasi becomes the first rail division with this QR code facility in the fare repeater.
Senior DCM Sheikh Rahman of North Eastern Railways explained that passengers will need to provide their destination information at the UTS counter, following which a QR code will be generated based on their travel details. After scanning it, the ticket fare will be received on the mobile device. Passengers can make payments using UPI, banking apps, or e-wallets.
PRO Ashok Kumar stated that this facility is available at three ticket counters at the second entry gate of Banaras station. Additionally, this service is also available at seven counters on the under-construction first gate. Moreover, the QR code facility will soon be initiated at other stations including Varanasi City, Ghazipur City, Maun, Azamgarh, and Ballia, comprising a total of six UTS counters and other stations.
