In a thrilling display of tennis prowess, Team India emerged victorious with a commanding 4-1 win over Morocco in the Davis Cup encounter held at the Vijayant Khand Mini Stadium on Sunday.
The Indian duo of Rohan Bopanna and Yuki Bhambri took center
stage in the afternoon, showcasing remarkable synergy as they triumphed over
the Moroccan pair, Elliot Benchetrit and Younes Lalami Laaroussi, with an
impressive scoreline of 6-2, 6-1. This stellar performance handed India a 2-1
lead in the tie, setting the stage for an exciting finish.
In the subsequent match, Sumit Nagal, India's highest-ranked men's singles player at 156, displayed outstanding tennis, defeating Morocco's Yassine Dlimi (world No. 557) with a score of 6-3, 6-3, further extending India's lead to 3-1.

The fifth match, considered a
dead rubber, saw Digvijay Pratap Singh filling in for the injured Sasikumar
Mukund. Singh fought hard for a 6-1, 5-7, 10-6 victory over Walid Ahouda.
The
Indian tennis team beat Morocco and advanced to the World Group I playoffs in
February 2019. If India were to win that match, it would clear the path for
them to compete in the elite World Group I of the Davis Cup again.
