Indigo Pilot dies

In an unfortunate incident, an IndiGo pilot fainted and died before taking off an aircraft on Thursday.

The incident took place just before his scheduled takeoff of the aircraft 6E135 from Nagpur to Pune.

As per media reports, the pilot had a full night's sleep before taking off, as required by the DGCA's regulations. Nonetheless, the pilot suddenly fainted at a boarding gate, shocking both airport workers and passengers.

It has been confirmed by KIMS-Kingsway Hospital that the pilot died of a "sudden cardiac arrest," which is consistent with the findings of the initial investigation.

Aejaz Shami, the hospital's spokesman, said that the emergency personnel at the hospital tried performing CPR on the pilot right away, but to no avail.

When the pilot was taken to the hospital, he was unfortunately declared dead. IndiGo released a statement expressing their sympathies and sadness at the loss of one of their pilots. Saddened by the loss of one of our pilots in Nagpur earlier today," the statement read.

Sadly, he passed tragically shortly after being brought to the hospital after falling ill at the Nagpur airport. The members of his family and friends have been in our prayers.

The flight (6E135) left Nagpur airport at 1:24 p.m., 14 minutes after the tragic accident, although flying operations continued. This incident serves as a timely reminder of the inherent difficulty and unpredictability of aviation work, even when conducted in accordance with the highest standards of safety.

The aviation industry is saddened by the loss of a pilot, but they also recognise the fortitude that keeps flights going and pay tribute to those who make it their mission to keep the skies safe.
