In the lead-up to the Rajasthan Assembly Elections, the Income Tax (IT) department has initiated a series of raids at Jaipur's Ganpati Plaza, specifically targeting the issue of black money. As part of this operation, the IT officials successfully breached the highly secure lockers at Royale Safety Wallets in Ganpati Plaza.
The
primary objective of these raids is to unveil details about the undisclosed
accumulation of significant wealth, possibly in the form of gold, concealed
within these highly sensitive lockers. During the initial phase of the
operation, two lockers were forcefully opened, leading to the recovery of a
substantial amount of cash. The counting process is currently underway, revealing
the magnitude of the financial findings.
Earlier,
on October 17, the IT officials had already seized Rs 1.25 crore in cash and 1
kg of gold from three lockers within Ganpati Plaza. The plaza, situated in
Jaipur, houses approximately 1100 lockers, all built underground. These
operations are indicative of a larger crackdown on illicit financial activities
in the region.
Notably, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP Kirodi Meena had previously alleged that a staggering Rs 500 crore of black money, coupled with 50 kg of gold, was stashed away in 100 private lockers in Jaipur. He specifically pointed to the involvement of Congress leader Dinesh Khodaniya and Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) leader Spardha Choudhary in appointing Babulal Katara, a key figure in a paper leak case, to the Rajasthan Public Service Commission.

Meena's
claims also implicated government recruitment paper leaks, the state
information technology department scam, and the Jal Jeevan Mission scam as
sources of the black money stored in these lockers. The BJP MP demanded intervention
from law enforcement agencies to open these lockers, asserting that they
contain crucial evidence related to multiple scams.
As
investigations unfold, these revelations are likely to have significant
implications on the political landscape in Rajasthan, making it a critical
issue ahead of the upcoming elections.
