Jewar's Noida International Airport is set to be operational by 2024, according to Jyotiraditya Scindia

The Union Civil Aviation Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia, announced the completion timeline for the Noida International Airport in Jewar by the end of 2024. This airport, set to become operational, will significantly enhance Uttar Pradesh's aviation infrastructure, adding to the state's growing tally of airports.

In a recent statement, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia disclosed that the Noida International Airport in Jewar is on track for completion by the close of 2024. He emphasized Uttar Pradesh's burgeoning aviation landscape, foreseeing significant growth with the imminent addition of this strategic airport.

"Uttar Pradesh had six airports. After the Modi government came to power, we built four more airports in the state and soon, five more airports will be ready. Jewar airport will also be ready for operations by the end of this year. So by the end of this year, UP will have 16 airports," he stated during a session in Lok Sabha.

The Noida airport, situated in the Jewar area of Gautam Buddh Nagar district, bordering Delhi, is anticipated to accommodate approximately 65 lakh passengers annually upon its initial phase. This capacity is projected to escalate to seven crore passengers per annum by the fiscal year 2042-43.

Scindia highlighted the remarkable expansion in India's aviation infrastructure, noting a substantial surge in airport count from 74 before 2014 to 149 presently. Passenger volume has also witnessed exponential growth, escalating from one crore pre-Covid to 14.5 crore, with an additional surge to 15.20 crore in 2023.

Furthermore, Scindia envisaged a promising trajectory for domestic air travel, forecasting a surge to 30 crore passengers within the foreseeable future. The impending inauguration of the Jewar International Airport is poised to catalyze Uttar Pradesh's economic and infrastructural advancement, bolstering connectivity and fostering growth across diverse sectors.
