Kannada Actor Darshan Nabbed as Second Suspect in Heinous Murder Trial

Kannada actor Darshan arrested as second accused in brutal murder case, with girlfriend Pavithra Gowda as prime accused. Victim allegedly abducted, beaten, and dumped in drain over lewd social media comments. Police hunt more suspects.

Still, a surprise of the century, the well-known actor of Kannada films Darshan Thoogudeepa, who has the nickname of “Challenging Star,” has been arrested and identified as the second suspect in the brutal murder of Renukaswamy, who is a resident of Chitradurga. While Pavithra Gowda, Darshan’s girlfriend and co-star, has been named as the prime accused.

As per the police sources the revenge happened because the victim has passed lewd comments on Pavithra Gowda’s Facebook account. Irate, Gowda is said to have turned the screws on Darshan to take revenge. The actor supposedly contracted Raghavendra alias Raghu, a Chitradurga fan club president, to kidnap Renukaswamy.

The accused took the victim inside a shed in Kamakshipalya, Bengaluru where he was brutally assaulted. The police report that Darshan beat him with a belt while Renukaswamy’s associates assaulted him with sticks until he collapsed. He further fared worse in the physical attack as he was left with multiple fractures in the face and body besides being thrown against a wall. He was then brutally murdered and his body was chucked in a drain, where his lifeless body was discovered by a food delivery man who reported the case.

In a remand application, Karnataka Police accused Darshan and Pavithra Gowda of being uncooperative and of hiding certain matters. There are four more accused persons on the run; efforts to track them down are ongoing.

A local crowd congregated in front of the police stations in which Darshan was being interrogated, the police had to resort to the use of force to drive them away. Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce said it would act against the actor after discussions, presumably after the police lodge a complaint.

Home Minister of Karnataka G Parameshwara has stated that police has full freedom to take actions against Darshan and other accused persons. With additional chilling information coming out, the nation is still in a state of disbelief over the involvement of such a celebrity figure in such a terrible act.
