A Khalistani group on Monday urged its members to demonstrate outside Indian diplomatic missions in major Canadian cities.

As per a report by Reuters, this action follows Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's statement suggesting a possible connection between New Delhi and the killing of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia.

Controversy surrounds Khalistani group's call for protests at Indian missions in Canada. Allegations of terrorist link escalate tensions.

Nijjar was fatally shot near a Sikh place of worship on June 18 in Surrey, a Vancouver suburb with a significant Sikh population.

Trudeau's assertion, mentioning "credible allegations" implicating Indian government agents, has heightened tensions between the two countries. India promptly denied any involvement, dismissing the claims as unfounded. This led to reciprocal expulsions of diplomats and New Delhi's suspension of Canadian visas.

Jatinder Singh Grewal, a director for Sikh for Justice in Canada, announced plans to lead protests outside Indian embassies and consulates in Toronto, Ottawa, and Vancouver to raise public awareness about Nijjar's killing and to call for the expulsion of the Indian ambassador.

Canada, home to the largest Sikh community outside India, has frequently been a focal point for demonstrations that have strained relations with India. Although Sikhs make up just 2% of India's vast population, they are a majority in Punjab, their religious and historical homeland.
