Ludhiana: A Dugri resident has been booked for allegedly molesting the widow of his younger brother and threatening her with dire consequences. The accused, who wielded political influence according to the complainant, initially apologized for his behavior on camera but later faced legal action.
The Division Number 7 police registered a case against the man based on a complaint filed by the 37-year-old widow. In her statement, the woman alleged that after her husband's death, the accused started harassing her by sending lewd messages and keeping a close watch on her movements.
The incident took an alarming turn on April 25 when the accused allegedly visited the woman's residence in EWS Colony while she was alone and molested her. The woman claimed that she slapped the accused in retaliation, prompting him to leave the premises while issuing threats.
Fearing the accused's political clout, the woman called her brother and neighbors to the scene. The accused then tendered an apology, which the woman recorded on her smartphone as evidence.
Despite the initial apology, the woman proceeded to file a complaint with the police, submitting the recorded confession as well. She cited the accused's political influence as a reason for her apprehension and the need for legal action.

The police are actively searching for the accused to apprehend him.
The case has once again highlighted the vulnerability of widows and the urgent need for stricter measures to ensure their safety and protection from harassment and exploitation.
