Actor Gufi Paintal, renowned for
his iconic portrayal of Shakuni mama in the legendary TV series Mahabharat,
breathed his last on Monday. The 79-year-old actor succumbed to age-related
ailments at a hospital in Andheri. Expressing the family's grief, Gufi's nephew
Hiten Paintal shared, "Sadly, he is no more. Around 9 am, he peacefully
passed away in his sleep as his heart gave up." The loss of this talented
actor has left a void in the hearts of many.
Earlier, Hiten had shared concerns about his uncle's declining health due to age-related issues. "He had been battling blood pressure and heart ailments, and his overall well-being had been deteriorating over time. As his condition worsened, we admitted him to the hospital for thorough medical evaluation. He has been under observation for the past seven to eight days. While he was critical initially, he has now stabilized," Hiten revealed. The family remained hopeful for Gufi Paintal's recovery during this challenging period.
In addition to his iconic role as Shakuni mama in BR Chopra's "Mahabharat," Gufi Paintal also left an indelible mark on the Hindi film industry with notable performances in 1980s films like Suhaag and Dillagi. He also graced the small screen with his talent in popular television shows such as CID and Hello Inspector. His portrayal of the manipulative uncle garnered immense fame and made him a household name across the nation.
The last rites, a solemn
ceremony, will take place today at approximately 4 pm at a crematorium located
in the suburban area of Andheri. The final farewell serves as a poignant moment
for his family, friends, and fans alike, as they come together to honor and
remember the talented actor who left an everlasting impact on the entertainment
industry.
