Maiden Voyage of Ganga Vilas Interrupted at Bihar

World’s largest and India’s first and most luxurious river cruise MV Ganga Vilas' maiden journey got interrupted at  Chhapra, Bihar. Reportedly the interruption was caused due to shallow water in the Ganges near the Doriganj area of the Chhapra district. Local administration swung into action by alerting the SDRF which handled the situation smoothly.  The State Disaster Response Fund team arrived to rescue the tourists. The team came with tiny boats to make it easier for tourists to get to Chirand Saran, where the ship was supposed to land at the coast.The halt at Chirand was planned to let the passengers see the ancient site of Chirand but it couldn’t reach there because of the shallow water zone of Doriganj section of the district.   Maiden Voyage Maiden Voyage According to Satendra Singh, Chief Operating Officer of Chhapra and a member of the organizing team for the rescue operation, all the necessary preparations have been made. The SDRF team was present at the ghat to respond to any unfavorable circumstances. There is difficulty docking the cruise because of the shallow water in the area. As a result, attempts are being made to transport tourists through small boats, stated Mr. Satendra Singh. However Ministry of Railway has denied any such issue in the maiden voyage of Ganga Vilas. About Chirand Saran   Maiden Voyage Maiden Voyage Chirand Saran is the most significant archaeological site in the area. This is 11 kilometers southeast of Chhapra and close to Doriganj Bazar. Hindu, Buddhist, and Muslim civilizations influenced the Stupanuma built along the Ghagra river banks. An ancient pre-historic mound is located in Chirand Saran which is known for its archeological record from the Neolithic era to the reign of the Pal dynasty who ruled during the pre-medieval period About the features of the cruise The Ganga Vilas' maiden journey offers some unique elements. It travels at a maximum pace of 12 km/h upstream and 20 km/h downstream. A RO system for drinking water and a sewage treatment facility are available on the ship. This journey provides every amenity needed for the passengers' comfort and needs. The daily fare in India is Rs25,000; in Bangladesh, it is Rs 50,000.
